About me

2005 - the beginning

Years ago, as a student I completed an introductory course in photography, and although I enjoyed it I never carried it on with me, until recently.

During a summer holiday in the US last year, I got myself into a "friendly" competition with my husband as to who could take the best photograph - me with my borrowed compact or Ciaran with his SLR. Although, sadly, I didn't win the competition I did manage a couple of good shots through the trip and found that the experience inspired and motivated me to learn more about digital photography.

Since then I've upgraded to an SLR myself and am thoroughly enjoying myself. I enjoy the process of learning about photography, even when I find myself repeating the same mistakes (often too frequently). It's a thrill to discover something new, to put into practise a new technique; to see a shot and try to capture it and learning how to process them.

For me right now I'm finding the hunt for the photographs around me to be a challenge but I'm looking forward to improving and developing my "eye".

So, I'm very much at the early stages, and I certainly recognise that I have a lot to learn, and in truth that is one of the aspects of photography which attracts me.

I haven't developed a niche or a style of photography yet (that I've noticed), and as you can see I shoot everything from landscape to street photography and attempts at portraiture, but I'm having a ball!

Of course the internet is a fantastic way to share and make contacts hence this is the start of my website.

I plan to improve and expand the site in the next few months but in the meantime, I have put together a collection of my favourites in the gallery and will eventually be adding more galleries and links to some of the places where I like to look around.

I hope you enjoy my website and the images selected.
